Hollow Knight: Silksong Speedrunner Achieves Groundbreaking Sub-59-Minute Clear
Less than a year after its highly anticipated release, Hollow Knight: Silksong has already become a playground for the most dedicated speedrunners. While ordinary players are still grappling with the game’s unforgiving bossfights and sprawling interconnected map, a select group of experts has taken to tearing through it in under an hour. The latest milestone comes from a runner known as Nebula, who completed an Any% run in a blistering 58 minutes and 52 seconds, marking what is widely believed to be the first sub-hour credit roll in the game’s history.
Speedrunning communities have long been dissecting Silksong’s movement mechanics and boss logic to shave off precious seconds. Nebula’s run, spotted by GamesRadar, abandons the previously popular “Mist route” in favour of a path that passes through Last Judge. This change alone saves an average of 40 seconds, though it demands flawless execution of several highly technical skips. Nebula themselves acknowledged the challenge, stating that they intend to learn the route more thoroughly and push their time even lower. In the footage, the runner is seen relying heavily on Hornet’s diving attack to traverse the environment, a technique that is significantly faster than standard walking. Their combat segments are equally optimized: every boss is dismantled by memorising attack patterns to an almost robotic degree. The development of these optimised routes is a fluid process, and with no official speedrun categories yet established on major leaderboards, Nebula’s achievement stands as a pioneering benchmark.
